As Fan friendships friendly relations among are fan groups of various sports clubs called. In Germany, fan friendships are mainly observed between supporters of football teams. But there are also fan friendships in other sports .

There are many different motives for friendship with fans. For example, they can emerge as an alliance against a common rival or in the course of a memorable game.

Fan friendships are cultivated especially when the clubs involved meet directly. In addition, games of the other club are usually attended, especially if the club is playing an away game in the other's region. Before or after the game, the fans often celebrate together and during the game they express their solidarity with posters, chants or choreographies. Representatives of the "befriended" club are often invited to official events such as club anniversaries.

Problems

Fan friendships often fall asleep again, especially when the paths of two clubs go in clearly different directions or the two clubs are suddenly in competition for titles or to stay up against each other. There are also a number of fan friendships that are only cultivated by some of the fans on both sides, while others are rejected.
