Fan series

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fan series are works created by fans themselves, based on original TV, film or comic series. They range from simple projects such as so-called "virtual seasons" to texts (so-called fan fiction ) and comics to filmed episodes including sets and special effects.

Fan series is a relatively new phenomenon, but is currently becoming more and more popular. The trigger is often that a fan scene feels bored with current episodes of a television series or that it is dissatisfied because no new seasons are currently running or being shot.

There are fan series mainly in the science fiction area, such as Star Trek and Star Wars . There are not grandiose projects such as 3D films or traditionally filmed episodes for all series, but for most of them at least »virtual seasons« can be found.

Examples

A prominent and high-quality example is Star Trek: New Voyages , a fan series with lovingly recreated sets. The project already contains over 6 episodes.

A more recent project of this kind is »Star Trek: Unity«, a 3D graphics fan series with "Voice Actors", who will lend their voices to the individual roles, and their own composer for the film music. The project is in pre-production and is still looking for employees.
