Faro de Moncloa

The Faro de Moncloa (German literally: Lighthouse of Moncloa ) is a 110 meter high transmission tower in the Plaza de Moncloa in Madrid . It was built in 1992. Its eccentrically arranged viewing platform, which is 90 meters high, is particularly striking.

After the fire at the Torre Windsor on the night of February 13, 2005, the tower was closed to the public in August 2005 for safety reasons.

In January 2009, the city council of Madrid announced that the repair work would amount to around 4.5 million euros according to the available cost estimates. In addition to the interior fittings and new day rooms, a new elevator system and new safety equipment are also planned. It reopened on April 24, 2015.
