Faroistik (also: Faeroistik ) is the Faroese philology , in this sense linguistics and literature , and regional studies of the Faroe Islands .

The term has hardly been used in German so far, as Faroistics is not a subject in Germany. The University of the Faroe Islands is the only educational institution with Faroese as a major within Scandinavian Studies . As such, Faroistics can be described as an orchid subject .
