Fiber Optics (Department)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fiber optics is the branch of optical engineering that deals with the development of optical systems for transmission, d. H. Coupling, guiding and decoupling of electromagnetic radiation and optical signals through light-conducting media ( light guides ). These media are usually optical waveguides based on optical fibers of different materials (e.g. glass fibers ), which is why these components are also called fiber optic elements or, for short, also fiber opticsor fiber optics. This can also include connecting and auxiliary means.
