Gas dome in section

A digester and the digester is in the waste water treatment often a tower-like or ovate-built reservoir for the controlled and controlled execution of anaerobic degradation processes . As a rule, they can be found in sewage treatment plants, mostly with smaller dimensions in biogas plants .

In the digested sludge to solve, among other fermentation gases such as methane (CH 4 ), which because of its strong global warming potential is collected. The captured gas can be used for energy. It can be used in particular to generate electrical energy in a block- type thermal power station.

Digester

So far, digestion towers have often been used alone for the post-treatment of aerobically generated sewage sludge . Depending on the composition of the wastewater and the process on the plant, between 30% and 70% of the electrical energy required in the sewage treatment plant is then produced, while the heat requirements of the digestion tower process are completely covered.
