The K85 is a large dump truck from the German manufacturer Faun , which was manufactured in different versions in the 1970s and early 1980s. It is designed for the transport of large amounts of overburden in opencast mines and large construction sites with difficult conditions.

technology

The rigid-frame dump truck is a two-axle front control arm with a 4 × 2 wheel formula with a tipper body. The rear axle has twin tires. The K85.8 version is 10.065 m long, 5.0 m wide and 4.8 m high; the wheelbase is 4.7 m. The engine of the individual K85 versions includes different diesel engine models from Cummins, the drive is diesel-mechanical . The one-man cabin is located to the left of the engine compartment above the left front wheel and can be reached using a ladder at the front of the vehicle. The tipping body can be moved from the horizontal to the tipping position with two hydraulic cylinders , a maximum of 77 tons can be transported.
