Faustino Arévalo
Faustino Arévalo SJ (born July 23, 1747 in Campanario , † January 7, 1824 in Madrid ) was a Spanish hymnographer and patrologist.
Life
He joined the Society of Jesus in 1761, but was deported to Italy on the occasion of the deportation of the Jesuits from Spain (1767). There he won the appreciation and trust of Cardinal Lorenzana, who proved to be the patron saint of the young Spanish Jesuit, who bore the costs of his academic work and made him his executor.
Arévalo held various offices of trust in Rome, including that of the papal hymnographer . He was appointed theologian of the Paenitentiaria Apostolica in 1809 as the successor to Alfonso Muzzarelli . In 1815 he returned to Spain, recalled by King Ferdinand, joined the restored society and became Provincial of Castile.
