Fawwaz Traboulsi

Fawwaz Traboulsi ( Arabic فواز طرابلسي / Fauwāz Ṭarābulusī; born 1941) is a Lebanese historian, journalist and politician.

Life

He is Professor of Political Science and History at the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Beirut and is the author of several books. With his book History of Modern Lebanon he attempted to deal with the recent history of Lebanon from the time of Ottoman rule to the Taif Agreement ( Lebanese Civil War ). An older illustration comes from the Lebanese historian Kamal Salibi (1965).

With Ahmed Beydoun and Wadah Sharara, Traboulsi was one of the most prominent figures in the Socialist Lebanon Movement (Arabic: لبنان الاشتراكي / Socialist Lebanon), which merged with the Organization of Lebanese Socialists in the early 1970s to form the Communist Action Organization in Lebanon (Communist Action Organization in Lebanon). He is considered one of the most prominent faces of the Lebanese national movement . He later studied and obtained his doctorate in France at the University of Paris VIII in Paris .
