Fcγ receptor IIIa (synonym CD16a , FcγRIIIα ) is a surface protein from the group of Fc receptors .

properties

As an Fcγ receptor , CD16a binds with low affinity to the Fc region of immunoglobulin G , with or without bound antigens . It is made by NK cells , macrophages and some T cells and placental trophoblasts . CD16a is involved in antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and phagocytosis , in contrast to the closely related CD16b . CD16a contains an ITAM intracellularly and is glycosylated .
