Spring guide rod

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The spring guide is part of the locking systems of pistols . The spring guide rod is a precision-improving further development of the spring guide.

The spring guide itself is used to fix the position above or below the barrel (due to the design). The spring guide rod also prevents uncontrolled axial deformation of the locking spring in the compression phase and thus possibly occurring pressure against the barrel in systems with tilting barrels, eg. B. Browning system , which leads to improved precision due to the repeatability of the firing requirements within the locking system of the weapon.

Compact pistol locking systems completely dispense with spring guides by guiding the barrel through the locking spring, e.g. B. Walther PP and PPK .
