Fine-grained
The term fine-grained is related to that of the grain size , but covers several different areas in geosciences and engineering :
- in materials technology, the size of the structural components of metallic materials (see grain refinement )
- In sedimentology, clastic sediment deposits with grain sizes smaller than 0.063 mm, namely silts and clays
- in soil science the "heavy", water-rich soils
- in analog photography, the fine-grained films, which have a better resolution than the coarse-grained emulsions - see grain (photo)
- in food, for example
- Granularity in Reconfigurable Computing : fine-grained reconfigurable
