Slagsta rock carving

The rock carving of Slagsta ( Swedish Slagsta hällristning ) near Slagsta in the municipality of Botkyrka , discovered by chance during road construction works in 1971, is the largest Bronze Age rock carving in Stockholm County , Sweden . The total area is 4.8 × 3.3 m.

The carving is dated 1800–500 BC. Dated BC, but was probably designed during the late Bronze Age . It consists of 17 pictures of ships, three animal figures, two or three undefined figures, a human figure, the sole of a foot and around 170 small bowls . The human figure is shown with characteristically shaped, strong calves. Below is a flat, scratched representation of a ship.

The completely overgrown, unknown outcrop was examined by the archaeologist Rudolf Hansson and the road authorities changed the orientation of Botkyrkaleden at the last minute.
