Fender Jaguar Bass

The Fender Jaguar Bass is an electric bass model from the US musical instrument manufacturer Fender . The Jaguar Bass combines features of the Fender Jazz Bass introduced in 1960 with the body shape and an electrical circuit similar to that of the Fender Jaguar electric guitar model introduced in 1962 . The body of the Fender Jaguar Bass is made of alder wood , which screwed them neck from maple with a glued-on fingerboard made of rosewood . The Jaguar Bass is available in different versions - with the model names Modern Player, Vintage Modified and Pawn Shop - and is made in Japan.

The top model (see adjacent photo) belongs to the Fender Deluxe series (company name). Compared to the instruments of the other variants of the model, it has a higher quality equipment. This includes an active tone control . The two electromagnetic pickups of the deluxe model are single coils of the Vintage Jazz Bass type with passive electronics, which can also be played passively thanks to the active tone control that can be switched off. In addition, the deluxe model has the option of changing the connection of the two pickups from parallel to serial in order to develop additional timbres.

The so-called American Standard version has a split coil pickup installed instead of the single coil located in the middle, as can also be found in the Precision Bass , while the standard model made in Mexico dispenses with the extended circuit and otherwise by and large with its American brother is identical. These two instruments are basically a hybrid of jazz and precision bass, but have never really been able to build on the huge success of these basses, even if some well-known musicians play jaguar basses, such as Troy Sanders from Mastodon , who uses this model as the basis of his Signature instrument.
