Ferberhaus
The Ferberhaus (Polish Dom Ferberów ), also called Adam and Eve House , is a house in Gdansk Langgasse .
history
The Ferberhaus was built around 1560 on Langgasse by order of Mayor Constantin Ferber in the style of the Dutch Renaissance . The architect remained unknown. The town house remained in the possession of the influential Danzig patrician family Ferber .
architecture
The facade bears the coats of arms of Poland, Danzig and Prussia as well as the coat of arms of the Ferber family - three pig heads. In the front door of the house were the carved figures of Adam and Eve. According to an old legend, the characters had diabolical properties. That is why the house remained uninhabited for a long time after the death of the last Ferber family member in 1786 until the ominous door was removed.
