Fergus I.
Fergus I (Fergus Mor Mac Earca; † 501 ) was king of Dalriada .
He ruled around 500 and is the ancestor of the kings of Scotland . According to the annals of the four masters , he was the son of Muredoch, the grandson of the Irish high king Niall Noigíallach . Fergus had come from Ireland with a force to help a relative in western Scotland who had been threatened by the Picts . Fergus was then made king in Scotland, but only ruled for one year. According to tradition, his successor was his son Domangart I.
