Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara

The Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL) is, alongside the Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires, the most important book fair in the Spanish-speaking world and, after the Frankfurt Book Fair, the second largest book fair in the world. It was launched in 1987 by the Universidad de Guadalajara and has started every year on the last Saturday in November since then.

Several important prizes for Spanish-language literature are presented at the book fair, including a. the Premio FIL de Literatura en Lenguas Romances (FIL Prize) and the Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz for women writers. There has been a host country or region at the fair since 1993.

The Book Fair was awarded a Princess of Asturias Prize for Communication and Human Sciences in 2020 .
