Fernando Laforia , full name Fernando Darío Laforia García , (born September 1, 1987 in La Florida ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.91 meter tall goalkeeper Laforia, son of Murguista Luis "Sapo" Laforia, went through the youth teams from Nacional Montevideo to the Quinta División . He later moved to Centro Atlético Fénix , where he made his debut in the first team in 2005 under coach Jorge "Culaca" González at the age of 17 against Juventud . Also in the Apertura 2006 and the Clausura 2007 he was in the squad of the second division. In 2007 a career station at Club Atlético Rentistas followed . At the latest from the Apertura 2009 he played for River Plate Montevideo in the Primera División . With the Montevideans, where he was appointed team captain by coach Eduardo Del Capellán , he completed 12, 28 and 30 first division games in the 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. He also played in two Copa Sudamericana matches . In 2013 he moved to the Montevideo Wanderers , but was not used there in the 2012/13 season. At Apertura 2013 he was listed as a departure without a destination.

He then ended - at the age of 26, at least for the time being - in favor of a job as a murga singer in the Uruguayan carnival, tired of false promises made by player agents and the dishonesty of professional football , according to his own statement to the newspaper El Observador . Around three years later, at the end of July 2016, he resumed his sporting career and joined the second division club Atlético Atenas . For this he completed twelve second division games in the 2016 season.
