Fernando Santullo

Fernando Santullo (* 1968 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan musician . He was a member of El Peyote Asesino and is currently on the Bajofondo and SeaMonkey project . In 2008 he was nominated for a Grammy Latino .

Life path up to the founding of Kato

Santullo grew up in Mexico after going into exile there with his parents at the age of eight and not returning to Uruguay until 1985. After his return he studied sociology at the Universidad de la República . In 1990 he moved back to Mexico City , from where his path finally led him to New York before returning to his native country in 1992. A little later, after Santullo, now working as a cultural journalist, took the first steps in the musical field, the band El Peyote Asesino was founded together with Juan Campodónico .

In 1995 the first of two records was released on the Orfeo label. This bore the name of the band. The second work Terraja , published in 1998, was published by the major label Universal Music Group . Gustavo Santaolalla was the producer of this record . In 1999 the band broke up and Santullo joined the founding of the formation Kato .
