Fernando Simón
Fernando Simón Soria (* 1963 in Saragossa ) is a Spanish epidemiologist .
Life
Fernando Simón studied medicine at the University of Zaragoza . He then specialized in Epidemiology and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and worked at the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control . He later worked on researching various tropical diseases in Mozambique and Burundi .
He gained greater national fame as the spokesman for the Special Committee to Combat Diseases during the Ebola virus epidemic from 2014 to 2016 and the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain .
After he was diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection at the end of March 2020 , he survived the disease within two weeks with a mild course.
