Mediation of the learning content

The FFHS uses the distance learning method and decided in 2000 to implement a blended learning concept: As part of the structured and largely guided self-learning phase, which, depending on the course, makes up around 80% of the entire course, the students acquire their own Rhythm technical and methodological competence. This high proportion of self-study is intended to promote self-competence .

Self-learning phase

In the self-learning phase, students work with various teaching aids such as classic textbooks and scripts as well as "Computer Based Training" with interactive exercises and " Web Based Training " developed by the FFHS . They are also accompanied virtually by their specialist lecturers. Using a MOODLE learning platform, they are connected to their lecturers and fellow students and receive answers to open questions. They also meet regularly for online lessons on the learning platform. In the chat room (synchronous lessons) and in topic-related forums (asynchronous lessons) they discuss what they have learned and do group work with one another. They check their learning progress in online tests (asynchronous lessons).

Face-to-face teaching in the regional centers

On an average of two Saturdays per month, the students meet for contact lessons in the regional center of Zurich, Bern, Basel or Brig, depending on where they live. In small learning groups, the knowledge and skills acquired individually are deepened and specifically applied under the guidance of the lecturers. Practice-oriented case studies are jointly solved and business games and action-oriented training courses are carried out. Social skills are trained in presentations, discussions and role plays.
