Hegyhátsál TV tower

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hegyhátsál [ ˈhɛɟhaːtʃaːl ] TV tower is a broadcast tower for VHF radio and TV near the Hungarian municipality of Hegyhátsál in Vas County . The tower was built towards the end of the 1980s, its mast base is at a height of 248  m . Its construction is quite unusual, it consists of a reinforced concrete tower as a substructure on which a tubular mast is anchored to the ground. Such a construction, which results from the combination of two different construction methods, is called a hybrid tower . It is used in particular in wind turbines. This enables greater heights (with more wind yield) without endangering the transportability of the steel tube due to the inevitably increasing diameter of the steel tube.

In addition to broadcasting VHF radio and television programs, the tower has also been used since 1994 to monitor the carbon dioxide content of the air. To do this, he carries the appropriate instruments at heights of 10, 48, 82 and 115 meters. There are also wind, temperature and humidity measuring devices at the top two measuring points.
