Hybrid tower
A hybrid tower is a tower in which the lower part is designed as a free-standing construction either as a reinforced concrete tower or as a steel lattice tower and the top part as a guyed construction. Such a construction, which results from the combination of two different construction methods, is called a hybrid tower . It is used in particular in wind turbines . This enables greater heights with more wind yield. The stability with such tower heights is only given if the diameter of the tube would also increase in the lower tower area. Transportable dimensions would inevitably be exceeded by diameters of over 4 m. The bracing of the upper part of the tower provides a remedy here: The absorption forces are thus shifted from the lower part of the tower, which is at risk of buckling, into the guy ropes which then absorb tensile forces.
