The Dobratsch transmission tower is a 167 meter high hybrid tower for VHF and television on the Dobratsch mountain in Carinthia in Austria at an altitude of approx. 2115 m. The internal name is KLAGENFURT1.
description
The transmitter was built in 1971 and is characterized by its somewhat unusual design, as it consists of a reinforced concrete tower with operating rooms and platforms for directional radio antennas, on which a tubular steel mast with antennas for radio and television is located ( hybrid tower ) .
The Dobratsch transmitter is one of the strongest transmitters in Austria and covers almost all of Carinthia as well as parts of Styria , the Canal Valley ( Italy ) and large parts of the Gorenjska region ( Slovenia ).
So that the transmitter can be reached all year round, a special cable car was installed that leads directly from Bad Bleiberg to the transmitter. However, this is not publicly available.
