Ferroelectric liquid crystal display

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ferroelectric liquid crystal displays ( English ferroelectric liquid crystal display , FLCD ) are displays based on ferroelectric liquid crystals .

These displays are characterized by bistable properties, which means that the information written in the display is retained even after the electrical field has been removed. Materials with pronounced smectic C * phases are used as liquid crystals . The switching times of the displays are in the range of about 100 µs and are significantly shorter than with conventional TN cells .
