Construction began in April 2006. After a construction phase of 14 months, the building was completed in July 2007. The planning of the modern building stems from the collaboration between the two German architectural offices Perler and Scheurer and Giesecke and Schetter . The architecture of the building, with its two spacious squares on different levels and connected by stairs, also forms a link between the Brucker Bundesstrasse in the west and the Bahnhofsstrasse pedestrian and shopping area in the east. The building itself has a total event area of ​​1,360 m², which can be adapted as required using flexible wall elements and offers space for up to 1,200 people. In order to create enough parking space for visitors to the congress center, the previously existing underground car park was expanded to 400 spaces.

The congress center is operated by the Congress Center GmbH, which was founded for this purpose and is managed by Oliver Starkz.
