Festival committee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A festival committee , in Switzerland always an organizing committee ( OC team for short ), is a group of specific people who prepare events and celebrations and ensure that they run properly during the events. Often, festival committees have no institutional framework, ie they are formed on an ad hoc project basis and dissolve again after the event has ended. Permanent committees are regulated in some association statutes (Germany) or statutes (Austria, Switzerland).

Outside of Switzerland, the term organizing committee is mainly used in German-speaking countries for larger events, for example international sporting events (FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games).

Festival committees are of particular importance in carnival associations . Here in Germany the festival committees are often institutionalized in the form of registered associations .
