Fethi Alpay

Fethi Alpay (* 1966 in Eskisehir ) is a Turkish major general in the air force and pilot. Since 2014 he has been the commander of the Turkish Air Force Academy .

Life

After attending school in his hometown, he joined the Turkish Air Force . In 1987 he graduated from the Air Force Academy in Istanbul. He was then trained as a jet pilot in Turkey and the USA and used in various ways. He attended the Air War College in Istanbul and served in the Air Force Headquarters. After further assignments, he was promoted to brigadier general in 2011 and then military attaché at the Turkish embassy in Washington, DC. Further stations followed. In 2014, the major general became the commander of the Turkish Air Force Academy in Istanbul . As a pilot, he completed around 4,000 flight hours.

According to Turkish media reports, he was taken into custody in the course of the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016 .

He is married and has two children.
