Fire Brigade Museum of the City of Arnsberg
The fire brigade museum of the city of Arnsberg with the new self-name Der BRENNPUNKT is located directly at the Arnsberg train station .
history
The collection was originally located in a half-timbered building on the Schlossberg . The museum opened on May 8, 1971. It was maintained by the city of Arnsberg and built by the city's fire department. The building was renovated in 1990, but is now in a poor structural condition. In addition to the city museum, there has been an Arnsberger-Feuerwehr-Historie e. V., who also collects exhibits, including decommissioned fire engines.
present
In the course of the reconstruction of the Arnsberg train station and the area around the train station, a former carpenter's workshop at the train station on West Lothian-Platz was converted by the association in order to be able to present the merged collections in one place. The new museum was officially opened on the weekend of Pentecost 2012. The museum is currently always accessible on the weekends of the odd calendar weeks.
collection
In addition to an extensive collection of firefighter uniforms and smaller pieces of equipment, the museum also has various old fire engines. The oldest comes from Brunskappel and dates from 1764.
A number of fire engines from different generations are shown in a vehicle hall.
