The Ffont family (including font or Faunt) from Galway is one of those 14 Anglo-Norman families that the Tribes of Galway ( English Tribes of Galway ) are called, and for centuries the city and region in the Irish County Galway dominated. There are hardly any records of when each family came to Galway. The Ffont family did not settle in Galway until the early 15th century.

They came from an old English family from Leicestershire and are said to have come to Athenry before King John Ohneland took office (1199) . The name is almost extinct today. Geoffry Ffont (1709-1814), who died near Galway at the age of 105 in 1814, is said to have been the last representative of the Galway branch of the family. Otherwise not much is known about the family, but they were closely related to the other families in Galway.

John Athy, a brother of the better-documented Francis Athy, was the father of Maria Athy, who was married to Francis Ffont, who died in 1670. Francis was the son of Stephen Ffont and Juliana Kirwan . Their son was Dominick Ffont, who died in 1693.

A roundabout in Galway is named after the family.
