Miklós Sárkány (born August 15, 1908 in Budapest , † December 20, 1998 in Vienna ) was a Hungarian water polo player.

At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Sárkány, playing in the Hungarian national water polo team, was only used in the preliminary round game against Japan. The team won the Olympic gold after a 6-2 win against Germany, so that he and his teammates György Bródy , József Vértesy , Olivér Halassy , Márton Homonnay , Sándor Ivády , István Barta , Alajos Keserű , János Németh and Ferenc Keserű won the gold medal got awarded.

Sárkány was used again four years later, at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, this time in three of the group games that Hungary was able to win. Since the team qualified for the final round and became Olympic champion after a win and a draw, Sárkány got his second gold medal.

After the Second World War, Sarkany came to the Federal Republic of Germany, lived in Wuppertal and initially had a decisive influence on the youth work in the leading German clubs as a "hiking trainer". From 1959 to 1973 he was national coach and finished fourth with the national team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

He was buried in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall in Vienna (Department 7, Ring 1, Group 4, Number 11). The grave existed until 2017 and was then abandoned.
