Fg tist 282 (also M55 or V62 ) is the name of a series of historical analog telephones from Siemens & Halske . They were introduced in 1955 for use in private private branch exchanges as the successor to the Fg tist 261 and Fg tist 264 drum selector devices, which were coveted by collectors today but were not very successful at the time. The series was produced for 18 years. In 1973 it was replaced by the masterset 111 series.

technology

The drum selector of the previous model was replaced by a conventional dial that was derived from model NrS 38. As one of the first European telephone series, the devices were given a housing made of thermoplastics . All electrical components were mounted on a metal frame, which made good use of the available space and also made maintenance and repair easier.

The sound quality has been improved through modernized electronics. Another innovation was the ability to adjust the volume of the double-shell alarm clock.

The first version (M55) was produced from 1955 to 1961. In the second version (V62), which was produced from 1962 to 1973, the metal frame was replaced by a plastic chassis and some technical improvements were introduced.

design

The design of the series was innovative for its time. The devices were designed by Wilhelm Oruss and Herbert Oestreich. In 1962 they were available in the colors light gray, dark gray (with a brown handset), black, resada green, maroon red and ivory. The design was so extraordinary that the apparatus was included in the Museum of Modern Art .

Variants and special designs

Parallel to the Fg tist 282, a wall-mounted device called Fg stat 23 was developed using identical technology .

From 1957 to around 1967, the Fg tist 283 variant was also produced in small numbers . This was equipped with a keypad for multi-frequency dialing . It was the first mass-produced German telephone set with DTMF touch dialing. It was only rarely used, including in the ESM II testing office in Munich-Färbergraben.
