Fidelidade Companhia de Seguros SA , formerly Fidelidade Mundial , is a Portuguese insurance company. It traces its history back to 1808. Since 2014, Fidelidade has been indirectly controlled by the Chinese investment conglomerate Fosun International ; previously the insurer was a subsidiary of the state-owned credit institution Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD). Fosun had offered 1 billion euros for the takeover of the majority stake of 80% in the insurance group. Fidelidade had a domestic market share of 26% in 2014, making it the largest insurer in Portugal.
Fidelidade's business areas include the health insurer Multicare and the traffic risk insurer Cares . Via Fidelidade, Fosun holds significant stakes in several large western companies in various industries.
