Aurachkirchen branch church
The Roman Catholic branch church Aurachkirchen is located in the Aurachkirchen district of the municipality of Ohlsdorf in the Gmunden district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Nicholas and belongs to the parish Ohlsdorf in the deanery of Gmunden in the diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
The Nikolauskirche in Aurachkirchen, also called "Roman Church", is one of the best preserved Romanesque village churches in Austria. In its original form, it should have been made around 1140. The interior is also particularly valuable. The so-called "Merovingian bell" is one of the oldest in the German-speaking area. It is also noteworthy that the church is owned by the Aurachkirchen Church Conservation Association and not, as usual, the parish.
architecture
The church is Romanesque. The mesh rib vault and the choir are late Gothic (late 15th century).
Furnishing
The two statues of St. Barbara and St. Katharina from around 1500 are late Gothic. The group of St. Anna Selbdritt comes from Lienhart Astl's workshop around 1520, as does the large triumphal arch cross. The church also houses a baroque high altar and pulpit.
