The branch church of the Holy Family in Schlüßlberg is located in the center of Schlüßlberg. It is a branch church of the Grieskirchen parish and belongs to the Kallham deanery of the Linz diocese .

Building history

In 1982 the first considerations and preliminary planning for the establishment of a pastoral care center in Schlüßlberg arose. Five years later, a piece of land was purchased in the future town center. Concrete planning began in 1993, and Josef Königsmaier's project prevailed in the following architectural competition. Finally, on March 9, 1996, the groundbreaking ceremony was carried out by Bishop Maximilian Aichern , Mayor Otto Weinberger and Pastor Johann Gmeiner. The construction costs amounted to 31 million schillings and the consecration finally took place on November 9, 1997.

Exterior construction

The branch church was included in the planning of the center of Schlüßlberg and, together with the municipal office, forms the boundary of the central market square. The church itself is mainly made of reinforced concrete and has a semicircular floor plan; the parish hall is connected directly to it at right angles. At the north-western point of the church there is the almost free-standing tower with a height of 19 meters, which carries 4 bells, each of which is dedicated to the Holy Family, the Holy Spirit, St. Martin and the Blessed Edith Stein.
