Findel (Sandweiler)
Findel is a village in the municipality of Sandweiler in Luxembourg . This part of the municipality is where part of the Luxembourg international airport is located , which is what makes the place well known. In popular parlance , the name “Findel” is used almost consistently as a metonymy for the airport (eg: “When will you arrive at the Findel?”). In August 2011, a deportation center was opened in Findel to accommodate migrants who have been denied the legal status of refugees .
