Fing is a program that scans computer networks to find devices connected to them.

The software combines many tools such as a port scanner , traceroute or ping . The network scanner displays information such as the IP address , MAC address , host name and manufacturer (determined based on the MAC address of the network card) of the scanned device. Using ARP -REQUESTS is determined the IP address and MAC address of network devices.

In contrast to the mobile version ( Android , iOS ), there is no graphical user interface in Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Operation is text-based via the command line . Most tools also work outside of the local area network ( LAN ), such as Wake On LAN. Any TCP connection can be tested with the TCP Connection Tester . The host name or the IP address and the port must be specified.
