Finger security
Finger safety is a property of technical devices or other devices.
A device is finger-safe if it is impossible for a child or a normal adult to put their own fingers in dangerous areas of the device in question. The danger can be, for example , parts under electrical voltage or fast moving parts. Dangers that could potentially cause life-threatening injuries.
For example, different types of plugs are finger- safe ( German Schuko plug type F , British plug type G , Swiss SEV-1011 system according to the 2011 standard, but not according to the old 1998 standard).
The Schuko is finger-safe because of the recess in front of the contacts.
The BS 1363 plug shown here has insulated contact pins at the lower end to increase finger safety.
The plug type D shown here is not finger-safe due to the uninsulated contact pins and the flat design of the socket.
