The Finke high-rise in Bremen - Mitte in the old town, Hutfilterstrasse 3, is a commercial and office building and is considered an important building in Bremen .

history

In 1956 the Finke high-rise was built according to plans by the architects Rudi Richter and Willi Kläner. The eleven-storey corner building, one of which is a stacked floor , is in the immediate vicinity of the commercial building in Bremen , which was built in the Weser Renaissance style and inaugurated in 1621. The contrast between old and new was particularly emphasized here. The architecture guide bremen writes: “The building was built as an eleven-storey high-rise at the request of the town planning department, in order to take over the optical function of the destroyed tower of the [destroyed] Ansgarikirche at the end of Obernstrasse ... Neighboring development and effectively subdivides the long street area of Obern- / Hutfilterstrasse. ”The intention was to build a distinctive landmark here. The grid facade was renewed in the 1980s.

use

The Finke men's fashion store, which was the client, was located on the three lower floors of the building from the start. That is why the usual name Finke high-rise has established itself in Bremen. Another dealer has since moved in. The upper floors are office floors. The building authority in Bremen was housed here on the five upper floors until the 1990s.

From September 2014, the Senator's Labor Department for Economics, Labor and Ports will be located on floor 4 .
