Firebase is a development platform for mobile and web applications . It provides tools and infrastructure via a software development kit (SDK) that are intended to enable developers to provide functions more easily and more efficiently using programming interfaces on various platforms.

Firebase Inc. was founded by James Tamplin and Andrew Lee in September 2011 and was acquired by Google in 2014 . It currently has 18 (partly paid) products that are used by 1.5 million apps .
