Fireside Bowl

Fireside Bowl (or Fireside ) is a so-called Bowling Alley and Music Venue that was established around 1940. The Fireside is located at 2648 W Fullerton Ave in Chicago , Illinois .

history

The building was an ice cream factory in the early days. In the summer of 1941, the owner Hank Sophie renovated the shop and turned it into a bar with bowling alleys, so he hit exactly the taste of the bowling wave and its associated hype, which spread in the USA in the middle of the 20th century . In the years that followed, the building was repeatedly upgraded and gradually received more railways and gastronomic offers.

Music Venue

Over time, bowling became a minor issue at Fireside. Instead, the music scene found its way into the restaurant. More and more shows were held until around 1999, when the City of Chicago asked for an expansion of the Haas Park next door. Despite all the adversities and problems with the city administration, music events continued and the Fireside was not closed. In 2003, the city of Chicago dropped the expropriation. Since then, the Fireside has tried to get back to its roots in bowling and to establish itself in the area in the city.

Back to bowling

Renovations took place again in the summer of 2004, new equipment was added and the lifts were upgraded. Live music events have been held in the Fireside again since 2010.

In culture

Various bands, some of which are world-famous today, began in the Fireside. One of them is Rise Against . The Fireside was not only found in the music scene, but also in television and film culture.
