Orbital fissure

The orbital fissure is an opening in the mammalian sphenoid bone . In ruminants and pigs it is fused with the foramen rotundum to form the foramen orbitorotundum . In humans, a distinction is made between an inferior orbital fissure and a superior orbital fissure .
