A fitness tower , also known as a multi-tower , is a compact, multifunctional piece of sports equipment for strength and fitness training that combines several different training devices in a small area and allows several people to train independently at the same time. For reasons of space and cost, it is an alternative to professional single and studio devices.

In the center of a fitness tower there is usually a tower in which the training weights for the individual training stations are housed. The weights are designed as flat plug-in weights. During the training, these weights move up and down and are guided vertically by vertical guide rods (see cable pull ). Several training stations are arranged around the tower. Depending on the design, each of these stations can combine either one fitness device (single device) or several fitness devices (combination device).

Fitness towers have an average of four training stations and thus cover a large number of exercises.

The most common variants in fitness studios are four- or five-station towers, also known as multi-towers. These are usually divided into lat , row , triceps and cable pull or better known as crossover station.

Since the beginnings of fitness machine development in the middle of the 20th century, the manufacturers of fitness machines have met the demand for space-saving, multifunctional training stations from the hotel industry and sports clubs. Up until the mid-1980s, fitness towers were characterized by a relatively simple structure. Mostly they consisted of an arrangement of simple rope pulling devices, combined with lifting or support devices for the user, such as parallel bars, pull-up bars or abdominal muscles. The development of comfortable and professional individual devices for the studio area brought significant improvements in the quality of individual training stations in the following years, also in the fitness storms. Modern versions have extensive basic equipment, such as butterfly, multi-press, hamstrings, rowing machines, biceps machines or leg presses. With the use of ball-bearing training axes and high-quality pull ropes, the training comfort and the service life of such devices have increased.
