Principle of the cable pull
(transmission ratio through the " loose roller " = 1: 2)

The cable pull is a multifunctional training device in weight training and is often found in fitness studios due to its versatility .

A cable pull station consists of at least one tower approx. 2 meters high, more often two towers approx. 3 meters apart. A stack of weight plates is supported in the towers , through the middle of which a steel rod with cross holes leads. The weights can be variably connected to the steel rod with a steel pin. The rod is connected to one or more rollers , which transfer the weight of the plates to a handle via a rope .

By suspending and deflecting the rope over the pulleys, it is possible to absorb the force in the base and in the top of the tower (see graphic on the right). At the ends of the rope, a snap hook is usually attached to which various handles can be attached.

Possible exercises on the cable pull

Due to the possibility of pulling the rope from top to bottom as well as from bottom to top, as well as the most diverse variants of grips, the number of possible exercises that can be performed on a cable pulley is very large and they cover most muscles from.

Examples:

  • Curls: Bicep curls can be performed with an SZ handle or a straight bar.
  • Flies : Lying on a flat bench between the two towers and using one-hand controls.
  • Triceps Extensions: With a straight bar or rope.

A cable pulling station at which all muscle groups can be trained through add-ons is also known as a multi-gym .
