Fjellheisen Tromsø is a cable car in Tromsø from the Hungeren district to the Storsteinen mountain .

First cable car in 1960

The construction of the first cable car began in 1958. The opening took place on February 22, 1961. A few months later the mountain restaurant was opened.

During the winter of 2015/16 the first cable car was shut down and completely modernized for NOK 68 million. The cable car received new gondolas from Doppelmayr , new machinery and the mountain station was expanded to include an enlarged terrace. The mountain station was also rebuilt to be handicapped accessible and given a lift. The new aerial tramway started operating in April 2016.
