Flag of Kalmykia
On the flag of Kalmykia there is a blue, centrally located circle on a yellow background. A lotus flower is depicted on this circle . The yellow stands for the sun and the Buddhist religion of the republic. The blue represents heaven and eternity. The lotus stands for purity, spiritual rebirth and happiness. The top five leaves represent the five continents of the earth and the bottom four represent the quarters of the globe. Together they symbolize the will of the Kalmyks to live in friendship with the other nations of the world.
