Flag of Tatarstan
The flag of Tatarstan shows a green and red striped cloth, in the middle of which there is a narrow white stripe that is 1/15 of the width. The design was created by the Tatar artist Tavil Giniatovich Haziakhmetov and was selected in a flag competition in 1991. It corresponds to the colors of the flag of the Turkish community "Volga-Ural" .
The colors mean the following:
- Green stands for nature and rebirth.
- Red symbolizes maturity, strength, energy and life.
- White stands for purity.
The flag of Tatarstan was officially adopted on November 29, 1991 .
