The Franco-Ontarians flag is the flag of the French- speaking minority in the Canadian province of Ontario , the Franco-Ontarians .

It consists of a green and a white field. On the left green half is a white fleur-de-lys , on the right white half a stylized green Trillium grandiflorum . The green symbolizes the summer months, the white the winter months. The Trilium grandiflorum is the flower symbol of Ontario, while the fleur-de-lys stands for the French-Canadian heritage and affiliation to the international Francophonie .

The flag was designed by a group of students from Sudbury University . On September 25, 1975, she was hoisted for the first time on the university campus there. It has been used by the Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario , the association of French-speaking communities in Ontario, since 1977 . The Legislative Assembly of Ontario gave the flag on 29 June 2001 the status as the official symbol of the Franco-Ontarian.
