Flemish Martialis
In the Roman religion, the Flamen Martialis was the state priest of the god Mars and one of the three Flamines maiores .
Little is known about the organization of the Mars priesthood, but its ritual arrangements were probably similar to those of the Flemish Dialis .
It is recorded that the Flamen Martialis performed rituals together with the other two Flamines maiores on the feast of the Fides publica populi Romani and that the victorious horse was sacrificed every year on October 15th during the Equus October in honor of Mars. The Flamen Martialis was next to it u. a. responsible for the consecration of the arms of the Salii Palatini .
Historically secured Flamines Martialis were u. a. Lucius Valerius Flaccus ( Consul 131 BC) and his son of the same name (Consul 100 BC).
