Flensburg (radar)

The FuG 227 "Flensburg" was a passive radar receiver that was developed by Siemens for the German Air Force in early 1944 .

The frequency range of the FuG 227 I variant extended from 170 to 220 MHz. The antennas were attached to the wing tips. This made it possible for the German night fighters to switch to the British reverse warning device "Monica" and to pursue the RAF bombers.

On July 13, 1944 ended a equipped with a "Flensburg" device night fighter type Ju 88 G-1 , association marks 4R + UR , accidentally on the RAF airbase Woodbridge . During the investigation, the effectiveness of "Flensburg" was recognized and "Monica" was immediately removed from all British bombers.
